You cannot make more minutes, but you can make the most of the time you have - a critical skill for success. This week's CareerTIP® advice on how to maximize your minutes!

Daily CareerTIP® Advice

Tuesday - Number your days...
... at least for a week at a time. Start with Sunday and plan through Saturday with a list of goals and a schedule of action items such as appointments with people and tasks to do. Plan the time for each action item in two ways: 1. The number of hours estimated to complete it. 2. The number of days over which the work is to be done.

Monday - Why time flies
It would seem there are not enough hours in the day. You know what? There’s a reason for that – the earth rotates at the equator at 1,000 miles per hour. What can we do in the meantime? Moses gives us a clue in Psalm 90:12: "So teach us to number our days, that we may present to Thee a heart of wisdom."

Tuesday - "The mind of man plans his way...
...But the LORD directs his steps," wrote the wise King Solomon. Hold your plans with open hands. Do not get so committed to your own way that you miss God's best path for you.

Wednesday - Investing time in people
Start scheduling your days with and for people. An appointment is a commitment - if you make it - keep it. Get there early and plan to stay a little late. Investing time in people provides your greatest return on investment.

Thursday - Make a To-Do list for To-Day
As soon as you get up every day, be sure to write down things you have to do. Maybe divide the list into personal and professional. Keep it with your schedule of appointments. Check To-Do's off when they are done. When this day is done, schedule the undone To-Do's for tomorrow.

Friday - The ABC's of priorities
So much to do, many places to go and people to see. You have to set priorities. Look over your "To Do" list, pick the "Must-Do's Today" and note them with an A. Next, pick the "Nice-To-Do's Today" for B priorities. And as for the Cs, you don't have to think about them today; think about them tomorrow.

Saturday - Review and Preview
Saturday is the perfect day for most of us to Review the past week and Preview the coming week. What needs to be done and who needs to be seen this coming week? What still needs to be completed from this past week?
