Monday - Teamwork starts with a common purpose
A clear, common, compelling purpose is the cornerstone of every high performance team. Purpose asks the question: "Why are we here?" The purpose of a team is to accomplish objectives. An effective team is mission-directed-it will be judged against its results.

Tuesday - Clear roles make teams work
High performance teams match tasks to the strengths and skills of the individual team members. This is the key to tapping the synergistic potential of the team. However, with synergy comes interdependence-every member's contribution and cooperation is needed, and, without it, the purpose cannot be achieved.

Wednesday - Accepted leadership serves the team
The research is clear: strong teams have strong leadership. Effective team leaders see leadership as a role, not a position. They see their role as serving team members as they, in turn, serve the team task.

Thursday - How teams work - effective processes
Whereas purpose deals with what and why, this element of team deals with how. High performance teams master and map their core processes, such as Criteria-Based Decision Making, Creative Problem Solving, High Performance Meetings and Process Innovation

Friday - Solid relationships build team performance
The more diverse a team is, the smarter it is. This diversity allows the team to approach problems, decisions, and plans with a rich inventory of perspective. However, although difference can drive synergy, it can also be the source of strife. Interpersonal conflicts on a team are like friction in a machine. Solid relationships are the lubricant between the human beings that make up a high performance team.

Saturday - Excellent communication accelerates teamwork
Excellent communication is the very means of cooperation. It allows the team to coordinate divided roles, provide feedback, clarify details and resolve conflict effectively. Make a list today of key people and issues. Now rate how excellent your communication on a 1-10 point scale (10 is best). Any improvement needed? Start by "speaking the truth in love."

Sunday - Ultimate high-performance teamwork
From the Scripture (Ephesians 4:15-16) comes my very favorite picture of teamwork "...we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ, from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by what every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love." Amen!
